Slovenia is a small country and most of the passenger transportation is enabled by motor transport and railroad transport. There are no domestic airlines in Slovenia.
The buses run quite often and the price for the bus tickets is not high. The way from Ljubljana to Maribor lasts about three hours and the price of the ticket is about 2500 tolars (11 EUR). One can either book the tickets (especially if you want to go somewhere for a weekend) or buy the ticket at the bus.
Public Transport in Ljubljana
The capital of Slovenia has about twenty bus lines. The main bus lines run from 3.00 to 24.00 and the rest lines - from 5.00 to 22.30. The price doesn’t depend on the distance and is 300 tolars (1.3 EUR). The passenger fare can be also paid by a token which costs 190 tolars only. The full day ticket price is 900 tolars and full week ticket price is 3400 tolars.
One can also buy a tourist card called “Ljubljana Card”. The card is valid for 3 days. The card gives the free public transportation by bus, free admission (or discount admission) to museums, discounts for excursions, discounts at restaurants, stores and hotels etc. The price of the card is about 3000 tolars.
